So, it’s been a loooooong time since I posted. Like, years long to be exact. I blame it on life or a general lack of things to write about. But in April 2013 everything changed and we bought his house.
It’s huge and 80’s and fabulous! But it needs some love. A lot of love. The roof leaked, there was wood rot, the concrete around the pool was crumbling, and the inside hadn’t been updated since it was built in 1987. Fortunately the finishes were quality 1987 but it was wallpapered to the MAX. No joke wallpaper either. The type that is like glued to the wall.
Since purchasing it almost 2 years ago, we’ve slowly been rehabilitating “Ashbey Manor”, as well call it. But it wasn’t really the fun stuff. Roof? $20k. Wood repairs and some paint? $2k (We got off CHEAP!). Concrete around pool ($30k). Yeah, money has been spent people. Can you see what I mean about it not really being fun stuff? I will admit though, it’s nice to look at the backyard like this
But it’s winter and this project was just completed in the fall AND the deck still needs to be stained soooo, we haven’t really enjoyed it yet. But I digress…
Over $50k in the hole and with nothing really “fun” done (i.e. aesthetics), we’re finally ready to make some much needed interior updates. And as a result, there’s now fun stuff to write about! So, I’ll leave you with this. The exterior of the house this summer after some hedge trimming, tree removal, and paint. Nuggets of things to come.
