I’m a cheat-ah! Sorry. Couldn’t resist!

Yeah….. totally cheating here. The real 5th outfit for my most recent 5 Day Challenge (One Shoe, Five Days: LAMB Nathan) has been waiting to be posted for a while. But the more I looked at it, the more I disliked the outfit. And in reality, what I really wore is different than what I photographed since I changed my blazer midday. SO, I took some “creative” liberty here and re-did my 5th outfit. I think this one is much better :)

Mint green & cobalt blue. Such a lovely combination. It was a little chilly in the AM, thus the navy anorak jacket.

I have to admit that today’s ensemble was a challenge. I had an outfit in mind but when I put it on it was awful. Just… awful! I hate when that happens. So, having no back-up, I feverishly went through my closet and found something that “worked”. But after 5 minutes of wearing it, it didn’t feel right. And I had to change. So I just started to play and voila! Today’s outfit. It’s funny how a challenge like this really forces you to asses what you have and use it in new ways. Gotta love it. So, two things learned today…

1. If you hate what you’re wearing at home, or are just “eh” about it, change it. Because by the end of the day, you will hate it. And it’s funny how liking what you’re wearing can change your mood.

2. If all else fails (as my per-meditated outfits often do) give up and go naked. J/k. Stop trying to figure something out in your head and just play around with stuff. The only real downside of this is the mess it will create if you’re like me and hate putting clothes away. I hate a mess, but I also hate fiddling with hangers. *Sigh*

Let me start by saying that I have officially become obsessed with Anorak jackets and this outfit was the first time I’ve gotten to wear one. It feels very “reporter” or “magazine editor” to me for some reason. Anyone else?

But while I loved the jacket, in hindsight the skirt might have been too short for the office. It’s one of those that doesn’t look too short but once you start walking, it hikes up. Only hose with this skirt from now on, for work anyway. Lesson learned. And with this crazy weather, I was barely able to get by with a jacket today. My jacket days are numbered, apparently :/

Oh, yeah, and I totally got photo bombed by our Schnauzer puppy, Sophie. No respect! I knew it was only a matter of time before she made it to a photo. Just walks right in… la da da . Oh? Are you taking a photo. Well, don’t mind me. I’ll just be down here, sniffing the ground… haaaaaangin’ out.

Oh, and please excuse my WHITE legs. The winter has not been kind. Also, I’m getting laser hair removal there and the techs are Nazis about no tanning for the laser to work properly. Which means a fun summer of pastey-ness for me (heh, and for all you who read my blog!).

I love shoes. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a rather large shoe collection. And recently is has grown… a lot. I guess it’s because shoes always fit. The problem is that I buy what I think are gorgeous, wonderfully beautiful shoes and then they sit as I fall back into my old shoe rut with the same shoes in rotation. So, to put this to an end and stretch my creativity (one of the purposes of this blog!), I’ve given myself a challenge. One pair of shoes. Fives days. Five different outfits. Ambitious? Yes. But it’s sure to be an interesting project. Sooooo… let’s get started! First up? My beloved Nathan by L.A.M.B.

Ahhh, Nathan. I love these shoes. I’ve loved them for quite some time and when I saw a pair for $130 (usually $355) on Ebay, I snatched them up. They were barely worn–I think they were a display model. So cute, they sat in the corner of my room, getting use here and there. But not this week!

Today felt like a dark-sunglasses-leather-and-studs kind of day. I DIY’ed my boots. See my DIY for details. I’ve been feeling kind of under the weather so I’m keeping this one short but picture heavy.

{What I’m Wearing}

Sunglasses :: Faux Wayfarers ($10 for 2)- Ebay from this seller. Shipping was fast and the quality is good on these.

Lipstick :: Revlon Lip Butter in “Raspberry”

Necklace :: Cross, self-made

Blazer :: Target (On clearance back in the day)

T-shirt :: Express ($10)

Jeans :: Express ($70)

Bag :: Mimi’s Boutique ($60- SOLD OUT) Try this one from AliExpress or the real Rocco Duffel from Alexander Wang.

Boots :: Goodwill ($4)- DIY’ed these suckers with some Ebay studs! They look sooo much better now.

And a note about buying second hand shoes… Usually I stay away from shoes at thrift shops and Goodwill because the idea of a stranger’s feet being in them kinda grosses me out. But these must’ve been meant for me because they were my size, brand new, and only $4! $4! I couldn’t believe it. So, anyways, wanted to mention that.

Channeling Jackie

March 27, 2012

Although the weather in NC has been mighty warm lately, today it took a turn from highs of 75 to being in the low 60′s. Being a Yankee, I don’t mind the dip in temperature since we never really got a winter, which I hate. It’s unnatural to skip winter. And I makes me worried for the summer… if it’s hot now, what will June be like? Yuck. Me not excited.

Anywhoo… the dip in weather allowed  me to pull out a long sleeve shirt and jacket again. I was originally going to wear a new boxy blazer I just got altered, but I woke up late and didn’t have time to figure out exactly how to style it. So my hair went up into a ponytail and I pulled today’s simple look together, a la Jackie Kennedy. I had this outfit in mind for a bit and wrote it down to wear later. I hope I’m not the only one that writes down plans for future outfits. Haha…

Enjoy!

Good morning! For a Monday, I was rather awake this morning when The Husband got up at 6am and considering I don’t have to be at work until 9, I had some time on my hands. Luckily the sun was really beautiful this AM, so I decided to take some outfit shots.

P.S. I had no idea until writing this that I was wearing so much Old Navy! A total coincidence.
